Fr. Gaffey is thinking about what will be a good penance for parishioner Bonnie Neylan


Bonnie, who attends morning Mass daily with toddler granddaughter Emily, left two dogs resting inside her unlocked vehicle. Riley, Bonnie's King Charles Cavalier, and Spencer, Emily's Beagle, decided that the wait was too long. They managed to paw the van's door open and entered church just as Fr. Gaffey's finished the Prayers of the Faithful.

Riley, an old friend of concelebrant Fr. Davenport, went all the way up to the altar and jumped in his arms. Spencer, not quite sure if treats were available anywhere, paraded through the aisles until Bonnie gathered both dogs and secured them back in the car.

Mass resumed without further incidents...
