INFANT JESUS OF PRAGUE
(CHRIST AS A CHILD)

“The more you honor Me, the more I will bless you.”
The Infant Jesus to Fr. Cyrillus a Matre Dei., O.C.D. in 1637

We extend a joyful invitation for all parishioners and friends to the Enthronement and Dedication of our Infant Jesus of Prague statue on Sunday, 25 November 2007 at 5 p.m., Feast of Our Lord Jesus Christ The King. Msgr. Steven Otellini will concelebrate with Bishop Peter Esterka, S.T.D., Bishop for Czech Catholics living in Diaspora. Directed by Jill Mueller, the music will be sung by our Nativity choir accompanied by instrumentalists. King of Hearts (Srdcí Král), a hymn composed by our parishioner, Anne Delaney, S.F.O., is based on the Infant of Prague Novena by Daniel A. Lord, S.J. The song will be featured both in English and in Czech.

Arkagy Rubinshteyn has beautifully hand carved the triptych housing and platform where we shall honor The Infant Jesus. Educated in Leningrad, Mr. Rubinshteyn is a professional wood craftsman with fifteen years experience at the Hermitage Museum.

Our statue is a gift of a long-time parishioner and lovingly acquired from Our Lady Victorious in Prague where the Carmelites care for the original statue. The Royal Dux Bohemia artisans in the Czech Republic crafted this hand-painted porcelain statue. The statue shall be a part of the rich history of the Church of the Nativity. A gold cross with a fragment from the Church of the Nativity in Bethlehem will hang over the burgundy velvet and gold embroidered vestments which will grace our Infant Jesus of Prague statue.

After our Enthronement and Dedication Ceremony, Czech food prepared by Schroeder’s of San Francisco will be offered at the O’Hare Center (behind the church). From Prague, devotionals (statuettes, rosaries, and books) will be available. An historical 1930s large photograph on loan from the Library of Jirina Fuchs, Los Angeles and other historical items will be shown. The King of Hearts sheet music will also be available. A present of holy cards and medals will be given to all.

We are very thankful the many benefactors who supported “The Little Mission for the Little King.”  Your generous monetary donations were crucial in order to provide all the needs for our ceremony and reception. May God reward you in return.

Our deepest gratitude for all the prayer supporters who see the vision and understand the spiritual significance and efficacy of the devotion to Our Lord’s Infancy and Childhood: your fervent prayers will make our mission a spiritual success. May the King of Hearts rule in your heart.

Devotion to the Divine Infant encourages us to honor the infancy of Jesus. Our Lord Jesus came among us as an Infant to draw our heart and love to Him. As a little Child, He is still our God and already by right the King of the Universe He had created. Devotion to our Savior honors the great mystery of His Incarnation. We acknowledge His Divinity and His Humanity (as seen by the two fingers held together on right hand of the Infant Jesus of Prague statue), and rejoice in His great love that led Him to give His life for us.

For those who are moved to spiritually prepare for this event, a Novena in Honor of the Infant Jesus may be made in your home or in church, before a statue or picture of the Infant Jesus of Prague, on the nine successive days from the 17th to the 25th of November.

O Dearest Jesus, Infant Jesus of Prague, how tenderly You love us!  Your greatest joy is to dwell among us and to bestow Your blessing upon us. Though I am not worthy that You should help me, I feel drawn to You by love because You are kind and merciful. Behold me as I kneel before You to lay open my heart to You with its prayers and hopes. I present to You especially this request, which I enclose in Your loving Heart:  (Mention your intention).

Rule over me, dear Little King, and do with me and mine according to Your holy Will, for I know that in Your Divine Wisdom and Love You will arrange everything for the best.

I pray You, all-powerful and gracious Infant Jesus, for the sake of Your sacred infancy, with Your blessed Mother Mary and Saint Joseph, help me in my needs. Make me truly yours, dearest Infant, in time and in eternity, and I shall thank You forever with all my heart. Amen.
